Privacy Policy

The short version

The calculators run in your browser and send nothing to us. We collect your email if you join the newsletter, and we use Google Analytics to see which pages are read. It sets two cookies to count visits, which you can turn off at any time (see Cookies). A few clearly marked links can earn us a commission. We do not sell personal data and never share your details with anyone else.

What we collect and why

Calculator inputs. Everything you type into a calculator is processed in your browser and is not sent to our servers.

Newsletter. If you subscribe we store your email address to send the newsletter. Forms are handled by Netlify. You can unsubscribe from any email or by writing to us.

Quote requests. There are no quote forms on the site at present. If we add one, this policy will say who a request goes to before the form appears, and nothing will be passed on without your agreement.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, so we can improve it: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, the type of device and browser, the country and region, and whether someone got a calculator result or signed up for updates. It never receives your calculator answers or form details. Google truncates IP addresses and acts only as our processor: every setting that would let Google use the data for its own purposes is off, Google signals and advertising features are off, and the account is not linked to any advertising service. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used. You can turn analytics off at any time: see Cookies.

Advertising. We do not currently show adverts. If we add an advertising partner this policy will name it and explain the cookies it uses before any adverts appear.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and a _ga_ cookie for this site, which let it count visits and tell a new visitor from a returning one. They expire after two years unless you come back or turn analytics off. No other cookies are set: nothing for advertising, and nothing shared with advertisers.

We use these cookies only to see how the site is used so that we can improve it. Under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, cookies used only for that can be set without asking first, provided we explain them, as here, and you can object simply and for free.

To object, use the button below. It stops Google Analytics on this site in this browser and deletes its cookies. If you press it, your browser stores a note of your choice so we can keep respecting it; that note is the only other thing this site stores.

You can also block Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, with your browser's tracking protection, or with a content blocker.

Third-party services

Netlify hosts the site and processes form submissions, and keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability. Google Fonts serves the typefaces, so Google sees a request for the font files when a page loads. Google Analytics is described above. Each is bound by its own privacy terms and by UK GDPR.

How long we keep data

Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe. Analytics: 14 months in Google Analytics. Emails you send us: until the query is closed, then deleted within 12 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@landlordplanner.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
